Zhi Chen, who graduated in 2017 at the London College of Fashion, founded in the same year the brand i-am-chen, combining an extravagant aesthetic with the technical study of knitting.
Her first collection, called Playground, inspired by Alexander Calder’s works and distinguished with bright colors, geometric lines, and contrasting textures, conceals a mindful technical study. The garments are created through a method she conceived that allowed her to combine fabrics with different consistencies without seams, making them completely reversible. A particularly dense knit technique also characterizes her creations, making the surfaces smooth and uncreasable but maintaining at the same time the softness and elasticity of knitwear.
