Basket stitch
The Basket stitch (also called Checkboard stitch) is, together with the seed stitch, one of the fancy stitches we can realize just by knowing how to knit and purl. In Italy it’s named checkers stitch after the texture that looks like a checkerboard. It’s a simple alternation of knit and purl and it’s ideal for a nice decoration on your garment. The basket stitch is obtained following the pattern below:
Work multiple of 3 stitches:
1st and 3rd row: * k3, p3 * Repeat from * to * through the end.
2nd row: * p3, k3 * Repeat from * to * through the end.
4th row: Repeat from 1st row.
